Jeremy Rochefort Memorial Flight
Saturday, 25 November
10z to 17z
IVAO lost a special member after a battle with cancer.
Jeremy joined IVAO in 2005 and started in the old South African division. He contributed immensely to the division working as an EAC and later as an AWM. His consistent commitment and dedication earned him respect in the division and inspired many to follow in his outstanding performance.
In 2014 Jeremy then joined the first IVAO Executive Council with the core mission of serving the community and since then has propelled the network and himself to greater heights through great leadership, positive change and many more great values. His positive and great contribution to the network will forever be remembered by every IVAO member.
On the 25th of September 2016, Jeremy logged on as
SAA472, to pilot his flight from Cape Town (FACT) to Johannesburg (FAOR). He experienced difficulties about 20 minutes into the flight and had to disconnect. He never managed to complete that flight and never flew again. To honour our late friend Jeremy Rochefort, we would like to announce the
Jeremy Rochefort Memorial Flight by the Southern African Region, where we will help Jeremy to fly the flight he never completed.
The flight will be a one way flight from
Cape Town (FACT) to
O.R Tambo (FAOR). All flights for the main theme must be booked (51 slots available), however there will be other departures from
FAEL/FALE/FABL to accommodate non booked flights.
There will be an honorary SAA472 flight from FACT to FAOR, which will be joined by the HQ Special Operations Department just before FAOR, where a fly past demonstration will be held. The flypast is expected to happen at approximately at 13:45z.Pilots arriving at
OR Tambo (FAOR) before the SAA472 flight will be directed to taxi to positions along the taxiways next to the active runway and form an honorary guard of honour as the flypast and landing of SAA472 takes place. Pilots are asked to stay online until the flight has landed.
PILOTS PLEASE NOTE: Pilots on the ground at their “positions” on the taxiways, to avoid a sandbagging issue, please remember to disconnect and reconnect every 30 mins. This is a special concession for this Event only!
Join us as we bid farewell to our beloved Friend/Mentor/Member/Senior staff member
