Dear IVAO pilots and controllers,
IVAO is a legally registered not-for-profit-organisation (NPO) under Belgian law, known as IVAO VzW. As the day to day management is handled by the IVAO staff, lead by the Executive council, the strategic and legal governance is handled by the IVAO VzW, represented by the Board of Governors.
The members of our association, assembled in the General Assembly discuss and assist in shaping the strategic direction of IVAO, submit motions and appoint the legal representation, the Board of Governors. The association’s members are often considered the core of IVAO and extensively engaged in the wellbeing of our organisation, both in visible- and less visible ways.
As in every year, we open our doors and gladly invite you to apply for membership of our association. Before you write your application we highly recommend you to inform yourself about the association, its function and purpose, the statutes and bylaws.
Can I apply?
Everybody who is 18 years or older, can apply for membership.
What is expected of me?
Every IVAO NPO member is required to pay a yearly contribution which is currently set at €18,- for 2019 (excluding possible transfer costs). Members are not obligated, but encouraged to actively participate in discussions, helping IVAO to move into the next decade.
How and until when can I apply?
In order to apply for IVAO membership you can send your application via email to: vzw@ivao.aero. Applications can be sent as of today and will be accepted until Thursday, 7th February 2019, 23:59z. We welcome you to write down your VID, tell us a bit about yourself, to include your real-life experience, your ideas and plans and of course your sincere motivation to apply.
What happens after my application?
Your application will be published in a separate NPO forum which will then become visible to all the current members of the association. Once the publication is done you will receive access to the forum for the duration of the application process to enable you to interact with IVAO members. Your application and interaction will be reviewed by all members and you will end up being accepted or rejected pending a vote by the members in assembly, which is planned for 3rd of March 2019. The voting outcome will be published within two weeks after the General Assembly meeting. Accepted members will receive additional information to complete their new membership.
