Hello all,

In terms of IVAO traffic amount, LTBA is really great (and was the main reason I applied for Guest Controller).

Judging from the forums, it seems to me the last major event Istanbul THYVA RFE 31.01.2015 unfortunately did not get the publicity and success it deserved due to the confusion between VA vs DIV event (and other simultaneous IVAO events).

I understand that summer is a period of lower activity on IVAO but I can only wish too see and take part to a big event taking place in Istanbul.

A few ideas :
- a classic RFE (not restricted to a VA), but it may be just too big in terms of preparation (especially booking)...
- a classic triangular event, possibly involving BG and/or GR DIVs
- a classic summer fly-in;
or, to bring something "new", my preference:
- a transit event : the vast majority of pilots coming from EU would "have to" transit via LTBA/LTFJ within a certain timeframe to fly to their summer destination (short hop' to say only LTFE + LTAI)

I shared this opinion - not the event ideas - with Maxime Poncelet (an other GCA) and one possible concern may be the strikingly low number of highly rated ATC or ATC hours relative to the division size (especially the number of TR pilots). Some stats are available here (replace .../LTBA_APP with any station). I hope this would not be a limiting factor to organize something in the next weeks.

Dear John,

Thanks for the good advice. You are very right in your opinions. Not just in summer times , but in general we don't have much active ATCs. The previous RFE as you have stated was not so successful due to the confusion with creating the rfe. Another RFE may be planned with LTBA or LTAI. Our main airports are not too crowded altough they have a big potential. As the staff of TR division, we must think about these problems and do the necessary things in my opinion.

I will also advise a RFE to whole staff to get their ideas.

Thanks again John.

John It is great idea about what you are talking. If you remember All the middle east divisions got together and made a meassive event recently. There are two facts that Event Orgineser should be considered. They are Ramadaan and Summer Vacation. You might have some dificulty flying Turkish Pilots at nights as some might go for Iftar(dinner) to friends. But if you orginese the event with neighbours and VAs I am sure you can expect many traffics flying to Istanbul. These are my opinoins  :)

Thank you for your first feedbacks.

The possible lack of ATCs is I guess one of the biggest challenge of a +6hrs RFE, but maybe not so much for shorter events (2-3hrs "fly-ins", "air-bridges", "transits"). "Fly In-to-the-city / Out-to-the-resorts" could be a catchy title ;P

I didn't realize it was Ramadan time of the year. It can indeed impact the most concerned division's pilots, ATCs, VAs, organizers availability (more than in any EU country). The day of the week and time of the day may have to be chosen wisely to not put some people in disadvantage.

Anyway I don't want to push TR-hq/events/atc departments' chiefs here !(... to be honest, I'm doing it  :)) ) I'm just looking forward to the next official division event in this hub.. or another one ; and suggesting it should be an official division event, announced in IVAO Event forum.

A "non official event" (should they exist), like a "ATC offer" in IVAO General forum,  would be victim of its success or chaos without a minimalistic ATC preparation (and not just 2-3 motivated persons), without coordination with neighbors, without coordination to avoid conflict with official events. Globally unpleasant.

Also, from the "outside" of VAs, a VA or multi-VA event (again should they exist) kinda look like "closed private clubs"; even though many non VA members fly with the callsign of the VA if it's a real airline - especially THY.

You are right.
One point only, we have executed wonderful rfes before the last one and we never lacked atc. So it wont be a problem dont worry about that. You will also support us as an atc :)
